RTÉ Sport has launched live coverage of the mass media event in New Jersey on Sunday, which saw a string of arrests.RTE News will broadcast live from New Jersey’s Port Authority Bus Terminal as the police officers in the city try to clear out the area.
It is expected to be the first time in history that RTÉ has televised the New Jersey event.
The New Jersey police chief said on Twitter that the police have “unquestionably proven to be effective in stopping and arresting numerous criminals in the area”.
Earlier, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a plan to increase police patrols on the New York City subway system.
The NYPD has increased patrols at subway stations in the subway system to “keep our city safe and secure”, de Blasio said in a statement.
“It is vital that we keep our communities safe and that we do everything we can to ensure the safety of New Yorkers, including ensuring that our neighborhoods are safe and stable for the next generation of New York families,” de Blasio added.
The mayor also promised to create a “robust plan” for dealing with the rise in gun violence in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The number of gun-related deaths in New England rose to an all-time high in February.
More than 20 people were killed on New Year’s Eve alone.
The numbers of homicides and shootings in New Hampshire rose to a record high last year, with the state reporting the highest number of murders and the second-highest number of shootings in the nation.
