CNN: CNN launches ‘Mass Media’ website

CNN is launching a new web portal on Wednesday that will let users search the most popular and interesting articles from the mainstream news media.

The new platform, which is the result of a collaboration between CNN and its digital news arm, CNN Media, will allow users to explore the most significant and influential stories from the news outlets.

The “new platform,” launched at the start of the year, allows users to search through the “top stories” and the “most popular” stories from CNN, the company said in a press release.

The platform will feature a “content catalog” that will allow visitors to browse and access CNN’s content across the world, CNN’s senior editor in digital content and editorial director, Chris Cillizza, told CNNMoney.

Cillizza said the new portal is “a direct response to the news environment that we’ve experienced recently, as a result of the ongoing election.”

“As we all know, a presidential election has been a year of intense attention to the issues and news,” he said.

“This is a new platform for people to dive into that.”

The new portal will launch in three tiers, with a “premium tier” allowing users to access CNN content more than 1 million times, while “intermediate” and “low-end” tiers allow users access to the most recent stories.

The tiers will include a “top 10” of the most interesting stories, “top 50” of top stories and the list of “top 100” stories, Cillizzi said.

The news organizations are seeking feedback from their users about the new platform.

“As we continue to provide a more comprehensive search and understanding of the news, we are working to provide this service as an option for all of our news consumers,” Cillazzi said in the press release, which also mentioned a “consumer survey” being conducted to determine user interest in the new site.
